With the Natchez flying home as fast as she can... I just noticed that the HARRIET BISHOP, and the MAGNOLIA BELLE haven't even left the Markland pool yet. Does anyone know if they are still tied up at the city front?
MARKLAND POOL VESSELS
Nick,
The Harriet Bishop is for sale, so maybe they will leave her in the Cinci area for more exposure in that area, or maybe she was sold during TS. Someone told me the Magnolia Belle is tied-off in Cinci (maybe at Dayton, KY?) and perhaps would winter there, considering that the NOLA excursion market had been a glut, then Katrina...
We heard that the Magnolia Belle was for sale too, so she's probably hanging around looking for a buyer also. She wasn't allowed in the TS festivities due to insurance problems, but did get fixed up enough to run 'renegade' cruises out of the Hooters dock on the Kentucky side. Several trips looked fairly full.
It could be that the Magnolia Belle is indeed looking for a buyer. From an old article in the Cincinnati Post, from July, the owner concedes that there is no business in New Orleans. So, he may be in no rush to go back. Plus, he's from the Ohio River area. Here's a link to that article
Hi All,
Well for sale or not it is good to see my old boat back in Cincinnati, even for a short time. Rumors that I heard regarding the Magnolia Belle were that a Father/Son Captain team from Illinois made an offer to Capt. Joe of the Magnolia Belle and he turned down the offer, so that Father/Son team purchased a boat seen recently in the Louisville area instead. This would mean their current "big" boat would be up for sale soon if it's not already for sale. I think Magnolia Belle will stay around this winter for some much needed repairs and general sprucing up before she returns south to hopefully better business. The Harriet Bishop was still tied up at the public landing this past Tuesday morning when I was by there, so not sure about her, but I didn't see any large for sale signs onboard.
