Last Tuesday evening we had a little work party at the museum sorting through boxes of material in the new collections building. One of the boxes contained blueprints. Back in the 1920's there apparently was a lot of interest in starting tourist operations on the river and someone had Howards design a 300' sidewheel tourist boat. The boat was to be powered by steam turbines, one on each wheel. Had it ever been built, it would have been a typical, well proportioned, Howard designed sidewheeler in the tradition of the old Anchor Line boats.
So if we have a lottery winner in our midst who wants to start a tourist boat operation, the design work has already been done all you'd need to do is to walk the blueprints across the street from the museum to Jeffboat.
That WOULD be nice, Jim. I wonder though about private baths, etc. How were those proportioned to the staterooms?
