The past year hasn't been a good one for our steamboats and some river museums, but here's some good news regarding the Steamer LONE STAR, the last operating sternwheel steam towboat on the UMR, now part of the Buffalo Bill Museum in LeClaire Iowa, just upriver from the Quad Cities.

Thanks, Judy, for sharing the GOOD news that work is beginning for the preservation of the LONE STAR. I remember how dilapidated she was, with very rotten decking, when we were on there back in 1981!
This project news makes me wonder what's happening with the W.P. SNYDER, JR. Wasn't she due to leave Marietta in late fall for extensive hull work?
