Franz has duly noted that today marks the 111th birthday (1897-1993) of beloved St. Louis educator/river historian/museum curator Miss Ruth Ferris. A whistle salute in tribute to a grand lady who is still much remembered and greatly missed by this writer and many others who were wonderfully influenced and inspired by her infectious enthusiam, zest for life and tutelage.
