Does anyone have any information or background on this boat. Its a towboat built as a kit here in the states, then sent to Australia where it was assembled and used. That's about all the information I have and it appears (to no suprise) to not be in the Packet Directory.

"Capt. Sturt" Not a very big towboat, and no hog chains, so my thinking is that narrows the time frame a bit.

Phillip you looked in the wrong book. Way's Towboat directory says the following: Built 1915 by the Charles Barnes Co. at Cincinnati, Oh. Engines were Barnes,12's-5 1/2 stroke. Shipped to Murray river in Australia. Used to build 14 locks on the Murray. In 1988 was still being used as a museum.

Wow, that's a big DUH!! But to my defense I don't have a towboat director so it slipped my mind 😉 Thanks for the info!

Many years ago, Capt. Way ran a pen and ink drawing of the CAPT. STURT in the Reflector as she looked at that time "Down Under." It seems to me as if it was in the same REFLECTOR that had a close up photo of the incredible J.M.WHITE model in the Smithsonian on the front cover. Just don't ask me when that was now!
