I was perusing the Port of New Orleans' website and it now has the Poydras Street Wharf, and not Robin Street, listed as the AQ's landing spot while she's in New Orleans. It certainly is a better location for the passengers' sake, but bringing on supplies etc. might be a bit more challenging.

Frank, thanks for sharing. When I looked at the site at the beginning of this month it was still listed as Robin Street. But with 20 days to go, we may see another change!

The CREOLE QUEEN uses Poydras St. There is an entrance through the parking lot for delivery trucks which bring her food aboard for dinner cruises. Large trucks can get to the edge of the parking area under Riverwalk, which should match up pretty well with where the AQ bow would be.

But is there any kind of building where the passengers could wait or do check-in, leave the luggage, stop a car to unload...??

Sure you can build up a little tent or so. But waiting in the heat/humidity might not be very comfortable.

Poydras

Carmen, that's the Hilton Hotel Riverside and the Riverwalk. It shares the same wharf loading area as Julia, just downriver. Whether they contract to use the cruise ship terminal building on Julia ( a block away) or have plans with the Hilton/Riverwalk, there is plenty of room. I'm sure the cruise ship parking lot/building is available to them too, which is a block(wharf) upstream. If indeed this is where the AQ will operate from, it will be much better for the pax. I believe the Hilton is one of the hotels provided for the pre trip stay too, so you could fall out of your hotel window onto the boat.

Carmen - Yes. In NOLA it will be the Hilton, where I'm sure there is a function room available for check in, bag delivery to the boat, etc. Worked well for American West when I was on the Empress. The Hilton is where most of the pax will be spending the night before they board.

Thanks, Judy,

I wasn´t sure whether the pax could use the Julia Street Terminal or not. I saw that there are some stairs going down from the upper level of the Riverwalk Mall on google maps. I wasn´t sure what they are for and whether they are connected to any terminal facilities. I remember we walked all the way through the Mall and that there are sort of balconies where you can have a closer look on the cruise ships.

Not sure about the Hilton, I thought some people mentioned the Westin as pre cruise hotel.

Both the Westin and the Hilton Riverside are being used as pre-cruise hotels.
