Today would mark the 99th birthday of Helen Hughes Prater, daughter of Capt. Jesse P. and Telia Hughes, known, respected and beloved on the river for many decades by scores of friends and admirers. Miss Helen was a shining light to many of us and, since her passing on March 13th, has left an empty space in our hearts.
On Friday, September 30th at 10 AM, many relatives and friends will "gather not far from the river" at Christ United Methodist Church in Louisville to pay tribute to a revered lady of the river.
