Capt. Bill Ray called this morning to report that the low water stage of the Mississippi at St. Louis is quickly falling into the negative numbers on the river gauge. He was preparing to get underway with a holiday party charter cruise on the M/V TOM SAWYER and said they fully expected to see the remains of the RIVER QUEEN / GORDON C. GREENE / CAPE GIRARDEAU out for air. Apparently the old steamboat decided to make a ghostly manifestation on the 40th anniversary of her demise!
"Rest in Pieces, Revered Old Riverboat!"

The remains start showing at a river stage of minus a half foot.
Capt. Bill said the stage was at -3 feet yesterday and falling so what's left of the hull should be well visible by now.
Nothing was showing last Saturday...12-1, when I was driving by the site...whatever the stage was????
