The natural decor here on Flintlock Farm is looking right seasonal albeit a bit early. The steamboats, MISS DEMEANOR and MISS FORTUNE are sleeping soundly in the red barn behind the house. Here's hoping that the world is as snug for you as it is for Miss Carol and me here on Gunpowder Road...and a bright new year for all of us including the DQ! Cap'n Walnut and first mate Miss Carol.
The view from Gunpowder Road early this morning...may not last 'til noon!

Merry Christmas to all of you!
It has been a sad year, steamboat-wise, but I don't want to list all the negative things but look ahead to a brighter future for the boats and the rivers.
The Delta Queen is being maintained very well by Harry Phillips' team at Chattanooga, the Belle of Louisville as well as the Natchez will run in 2010 and hopefully the American Queen's future will be clear very soon as well as the Julia Belle Swain's. There is hope, and that's what we need 🙂
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Leonie, Carmen and Franz.

Don't forget the Queen of the West running in 2010, too. Not steam, not the Mississippi, but that little boat might just be a "little engine that could" who does her part to revive the industry.
Merry and Happy to all of you.
