Very interesting indeed. This is the first I have heard of this event. It would have been nice to have known about this earlier!

*RE: Filson Historical Series*

Hi, Robert & Steamboating colleagues:
Thanks for giving .org 'heads up' on the Filson series. Sounds fascinating. An invitation arrived here yesterday to attend but I'll be heading to sea next week sailing from New York; thus missing all.

And "the beat" goes on...

Although we have two BIG group tours on Friday, October 7th and it's also the set up day for our annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction fundraiser for the Howard Steamboat Museum, Yvonne and/or I hope to attend the programs.

The Steamboat Bicentennial celebration is ongoing, culminating at New Orleans in January. Many river communities, small and large, are sponsoring educational and fun events. So MUCH to do - so LITTLE time!

*RE: Events/Happenings*

Great information Keith and keep us posted with the 'sternline' good and wet. Hanover College sent Cap'n Bill Judd and I packages of bookets RE: the big event next weekend in Madison with the BELLE OF LOUISVILLE, BELLE OF CINCINNATI. These we passed around liberally to attendees at the recent S&D Marietta meeting with other news, updates shared by Jerry Sutphin.

This AM Ms. Anne Fairchild, Lanier Mansion in Madison, IN, phoned RE: any S&D displays, materials etc. for a booth on the event. I promptly got the word out to local S&Ders in case they can rally something/attend in support.

Likewise an announcement coming soon on the January observation of the infamous great 1937 flood. This by the hard work of the flood committee in tandem with B/B RIVERBOATS. Museums, libraries etc. plan on having displays of photos, diaries, memories. I recently uncovered at Literary Club here a huge leather bound volume on the '37 flood with all the newspaper clippings, photos gleaned from regional papers of the day. More in time. Yes, so many great things going on. Cheers! Now back to stripping wall paper. UGH!

Hey Dale,
Please double check the dates from Hanover. I believe the event in Madison is scheduled for the 14th-16th of October. Should be plenty to do and see in Madison that weekend.

*RE: Dale getting it right*

Hey, AJ:
Yep, musta' been a 'senior moment' on my part RE: the event dates. Thanks for dropping the other shoe. So much going on I get 'cornfused.' I've been groggy here with medication for an ear problem. I'll still be away on the ship at the right date. Cheers!
