Just saw that on October 5th, there is one of the rare occasions to see the Str. PORTLAND under steam: Oregon Maritime Museum
The PORTLAND will do a fundraiser cruise from Steamer PORTLAND’s dock in downtown Portland on the Willamette River, to the mouth of the Willamette River and back to dock. I wish I could be there ...

Aboard the Str. Portland - 1997
In 1997 I was in Portland for a convention and also a visit with family, who took me to see the PORTLAND and the museum. She had been under steam just the day before I arrived and her engine room still had that wonderful aroma of hot oil and steam!
There was a special exhibit on board of photographs and props from when the boat had been used in the recent making of the movie "Maverick", starring Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster.
Fine steamboat and well maintained!
