Just got a call from Capt. Troy Delaney in the NATCHEZ pilothouse. Now, at 7:30PM Friday, they are downbound and the MQ is being towed UPbound in the Mississippi River, passing the Aurora Plantation house. He's got traffic to deal with, but hopefully he can reach the tugboat pilot and find out what the heck is going on. I think they were concerned about getting under bridges along the Intracostal, so maybe that is the problem. What next????????

an educated guess

Got a call from Capt. Steve Nicoulin. They didn't make contact with the tug pilot, but they think its probably headed up to Port Allen and go that way - as I recall, the 84 ft. wide PRESIDENT scraped through that lock with inches to spare, so the handlers will have to be careful, but the 68 ft. wide MQ will fit with some leeway, IF that's where she's headed...

She's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaccckkkkkkk!

Well folks, just in from Ms. Calliope Debbie Fagnano and Capt. Troy C. Delaney: look what the shot from the NATCHEZ pilothouse today shows! She's at the old Todd/Avondale/NorthrupGrumman repair dock in Algiers, right along the NATCHEZ' route. This is in Algiers, below the cityfront, her third stop on the Westbank since '06... who knows what is going on now!6767.jpg

Eleventh Hour Purchase??

Could this possibly mean an eleventh hour purchase?? Seems like a big change of plans doesn't it... Cautious optimism is the only thing I can think of to describe this scene.

Why there???

I think its more likely that: hull repairs are needed, or the rudders need to be removed, or the upper level needs to be removed to fit under bridges, or something along those lines...

It will be interesting to see what happens. There's one thing for sure - she isn't going without a fight. Thanks for the updates, I appreciate it!
