Thanks to the efforts of Curator Keith Norington tomorrow at Howards...Sunday Oct.13....will be the opening reception of Howards exhibit for the Louisville area Photo Biennial Festival. The exhibit features over 40, 11x14, prints from the Howard photo collection. Many of the photos have never been publically displayed before such as the interior of the skating rink Jim and Loretta ran when they were first married. The exhibit is entitled "A Family, A Shipyard, An Era" and has photos of the Howard family, the shipyard, and steamboats the Howards built.
The reception hours are from 1 to 4 and the exhibit is displayed in the recently refurbished laundry house, admission is free although donations are gladly accepted; so if you're looking for something to do on a beautiful early fall Sunday afternoon, stop by I think you'll like it.
HSM Photo Exhibition through October 31st!
For those who couldn't attend our opening reception on Sunday, please remember that this display will remain in place (minus the cookies, cupcakes and punch!) through October 31st and there is NO admission charge to view it during regular museum hours. Jimmy always does a wonderful job with the HSM photo collections, but has truly "outdone himself" with this one! The images are so clear and crisp, the viewer can almost step right into the scene!
When the exhibition closes, we will be incorporating some of the images into exhibits within the museum. Many of our visitors often inquire about photos of the Howard family and this display features quite a number of scenes of family and their everyday lives at the mansion and shipyard.
Many thanks to Jim for his excellent work in curating this exhibition. It has received "rave reviews" and deservedly so!
Come see us!
