Just curious, there are two vents displayed on the riverfront at New Richmond, Ohio that look like the one's that used to be Texas deck of the Delta Queen. Does anyone know if these are indeed the vents from the DQ?

If so, I'm sure it's been discussed on here before, but I must've missed it.

Thanks,

John

DQ vents

Yes, those are vents off the DQ, but I think they are the ones from the bow. The Texas vents were removed later and their whereabouts are not known. What you were looking at was the Capt. Ernie Wagner Memorial at New Richmond, which was establshed shortly after his death in 1978. Delly Robertson was highly involved in its creation, and Capt. Bill Judd is still involved in keeping it shipshape. There is a plaque there along with the vents.

DQ Vents at New Richmond

Judy, John, The vents at New Richmond are from the Texas Deck of the Delta Queen, I know because I took them off (By Myself!) at Robin street NOLA the layup of 84-85, and Pete Feilhaur (?) trucked them up to New Richmond as a memorial to Capt. Wgner.

Glad to finally find out...everytime I've gone by there I wondered about them. I could see some sort of plaque/memorial between them, but couldn't make out what it was exactly from the boat. I assumed they probably were from the DQ, but you know what they say about assuming...Anyhow, thanks for the information.
