Hello everyone, my name is Ed Timper, and I live in Bettendorf, Ia. I am very interested in the W. J. Quinlan, and in particular information on her last few years on the river. My Great Grandfather is Arthur Quinn, and he was her last Captain / Pilot.
I am trying to gather as much info and photos etc, of her that I can. Also any info on life along the Mississippi during the 30's and 40's.
I look forward to talking with some of you, and sharing my love of the river and her grand old ships.

Hi, Ed, and welcome to the steamboats.org discussion board! The person you want to hook up with is Judy Patsch of Rock Island, a frequent poster on this board. She has posted regularly (and recently) about the QUINLAN. The most recent thread on this was "Boatyards", I think. Try the "search" function on boatyards and that should be enough to get you started until Judy gets back.

Welcome Ed! Yes, we've had several threads about the QUINLAN. Jerry Canavit, now of San Antonio, also grew up in the west end of RI and has compiled much info about Kahlke and the QUINLAN. Please email me: [email protected]. Here's one thread we had: http://www.steamboats.org/forum/showthread.php?t=74&highlight=WJ+QUINLAN Type in WJ QUINLAN in the 'search' box and you'll see quite a few threads show up we've posted over the years.
