RIP
Sen. Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, the influential Democrat who broke racial barriers on Capitol Hill and played key roles in congressional investigations, died today. He was 88.

Inouye was a senator since January 1963, a career politician, and huge roadblock not allowing the last exemption of the Delta Queen.

Not to be one to speak ill of one who has passed, but I hope this bodes well for the Delta Queen. This guy admitted that if the Union wanted the DQ running, he would vote in favor--that was his opposition, not safety! Hmm, I guess at least he was honest about the real issue.

I understand the point of contention here. But lest we forget, the proper way to refer to Sen Inoye is "Medal of Honor Recipient" Daniel Inoye.

I do not, and did not want to make light of his contributions and sacrifices in his younger days. I can only assume that the power of his position clouded (in my humble opinion) his judgement and respect of some of our heritage in more recent times.
Steamcerely,
