I just spoke with Capt. Doc Hawley and learned belatedly that Joan Spear passed away last week. While not dot.orgers, John, Joan and Jeff Spear are long time members of Sons & Daughters of Pioneer Rivermen, were great steamboat fans, and personal friends of many on this board. Joan was always gracious and so nice to all who were priveleged to be in her home. The news came as a great shock to me since she seemed to be doing quite a bit better in September, and came to the banquet and program Saturday evening. Please join me in sending condolences to John and Jeff.
