When you have a chance, check out Quinta Scott's Eads Bridge Photograph for some fascinating photographs of the 1874 Eads Bridge at St. Louis. The professional photographer of these fabulous photos is Ms. Quinta Scott, who came to know and love the Mississippi River due to the influence of her fifth grade teacher -- none other than the famous Miss Ruth Ferris -- who was on the faculty of the Community School for 35 years and instilled river lore into every class she taught, especially after the salvaged pilothouse of the Str. GOLDEN EAGLE was brought to the school campus in 1948.

Ms. Scott has authored a wonderful book on the Eads Bridge as well as several others featuring the Mighty Mississippi and regional history. There are links to all of these on her website.

Take a look!
