Upon calling AARP today and telling them about some issues having, and some issues not having the "River of Dreams - Dreamboats" feature article on page 74 of the March/April issue (yes, the one with Her Majesty Helen Mirren on the cover), I was given some information.

It turns out AARP publishes several different versions of each issue, each version geared to a different age group among their membership. Not only are the articles sometimes different, but so are the ads, puzzles, games, etc. Our issue happens to be in the 60 - 69 age group. I was informed those in the 50 - 59 age group may get different content, as well as those in the 70 - 79 or 80 -89 age groups, etc. I forgot to ask how many age groups they delineate beyond that!

After suggesting they include the steamboats related article in all the issues, the representative I spoke with said she would pass this suggestion along. She also said that the article is accessible online. Before I hung up I told her what a wonderful article it was and that it had convinced me to take a river cruise....

What do you mean? : )- I think we should all log onto the site

http://www.aarpmagazine.org/travel/dreamboats_mississippi.html

and then send our feedback online what a neat article it is. It can't hurt and would probably help fill the boats and that is the key to keeping them afloat.

Oh, flights to and from New Orleans are booked solid for Mardi Gras- just as a point to note. I am not sure where people are staying but the flights are full.

The AARP also had an article about senior discounts on flights.

Ok, that 'splains it. What you're saying Jazzou is that David Dewey's lovely wife Linda and I are the same age group as I also have the "Be A Bully" article on page 74 of my magazine (and David, I know you're reading...your "WIFE'S issue"?...I'm afraid you may pay for that my friend, maybe flowers will help but don't count on it, I'm praying for you...and you bet we're gonna have to talk about this...).

And Jazzou, are you further saying that Deb and I (and Linda Dewey, too) are in the 29 to 35 age demographic and that AARP is rescinding our membership because they found out we are too young? Bless them.

Elaine, I'm going to AARP's website now to give my support. I agree, every little bit helps to float the boat. Great idea.

AARGH!! Foot In Mouth again!! Or PWI (Posting while Idiot). But it really is her issue, they didn't ask me to join. . . . Ah well, any club that would want me as a member. . . .
Something tells me this will cost me onboard. . . .
Now I've gotta post AARP--or rather have LINDA post them!
Yeah, 29 - 35 age group, RIGHT!!
Steamcerely,
David D.
