As promised, these are some of the photos of the AQ's visit to Dubuque Wednesday.
In the first picture, the landing stage is swung to port and the starboard stage outboard to clear the M/V TWILIGHT at the landing.
The second shows her coming in just below the TWILIGHT. The M/V CELEBRATION BELLE had departed moments before, delaying the AQ's arrival by an hour.
Picture three shows all lines fast after an hour and a half of jockeying lines and positioning the stage.

Here, the first view is from the observation deck atop the Fourth Street Elevator, showing the boat landed outside the Ice Harbor. In left center is the M/V DIAMOND JO casino boat, with the M/V SPIRIT OF DUBUQUE landed behind. Lower center is the steam dredge WILLIAM M. BLACK, and on far right is Newt's Marine Service.
Later that evening, the boat is approaching Lock 11 at the north end of town, as viewed from Eagle Point Park.
The next picture shows the boat filling up the lock with construction work going on at the site. Unfortunately, there has been no public access to the lock going on two years. Still, this is an excellent vantage point from which to view the boat.

These last three all show the boat departing Lock 11.
The second view shows Sinipee Point in Wisconsin in the extreme upper left corner. The Corps calls the area above the dam "Sunfish Lake." You can see the construction at the lock site quite clearly.
The last picture shows her headed upriver to La Crosse for her afternoon stop on Thursday.

It looks to me as if the eagle is no longer flying above the forecastle of the AQ. Hopefully it too will return to its roost.
Yes, the Eagle is gone, having been replaced by a small version of the MAL logo. Here's what the Eagle looked like when it was up. What I thought that most people would notice is that the two companion arches are now gone, and only the one large center one remains, with the 'American Queen' words on it. Click here to see a photo of those arches. While not a close up, you can sort of see what minor changes have been applied to the front of the boat... removal of the arches and replacement of the Eagle with a small MAL sign. At least this change wasn't as drastic as that huge, ugly sign they slapped on the DQ pilot house, before it was removed.
