The AMERICAN QUEEN was aglow in lights at the Louisville landing as I crossed the bridge into downtown at 7 AM. She is a BIG presence at the wharf and makes our petite BELLE OF LOUISVILLE look like a model by comparison.
Franz, Carmen, Leonie, Pat Carr and Pat Traynor will be leaving the AQ this morning and we're looking forward to steamboat fun and fellowship for the remainder of the week, joined by other buffs and buffettes, which includes Pat Carr's showboat program at the museum on Saturday afternoon -- and which was advertised in all the local newspapers today!
Keep up steam! (Not hard to do when the temps are to be 100+ for the next few days!)
All have arrived safe and sound and headed their separate ways until we meet at the Norrington Landing this evening. I believe if the SPIRIT OF JEFFERSON is going out today there just might be some "river rats" on her.
