Could someone who has been on the American Queen recently please advise me if the men need to wear a suit or coat at any of the evening dinners? I have been given conflicting information from the reservationists at Majestic America Line. Some say they do need a suit or coat at the Captain's Dinner and some say they don't. Is a collard shirt and pants appropriate? I would appreciate the right information.

Marlene I was on the AQ in June. It is not necessary to wear a jacket. Churchy dress is fine. Slacks and nice shirt. hope this helps

At our captains dinner there was everything from very formal, to the same thing that they had on at lunches.

My dad would have been much more comfortable in his favorite clothes, a clean version of what you will see the engine room staff wearing. The only reason he didn't wear that was that my mother wouldn't let him pack it for the trip.
Other than the captains dinner, anything was fine.
