Steamboating colleagues:
Tomorrow, October 12, 2007, will mark Capn' Bill & Darlene Judd's big 50th Wedding Anniversary. Again, I ask, has it been that long? I first met the Judds now almost that long ago at meetings of the STEAMSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA here at the Cincinnati Public Library. The name of the club was a cover...it was really a mini-S&D meeting on steamboats and the river. Bill's work with his JUDD MARINE, in addition to interest in political matters here, goes without saying along with serving as Chairman, Board of Governors, S&D of Pioneer Rivermen. Darlene still purses her own career and qualified as a pro on blowing the whistle from the Str. QUEEN CITY at a past Marietta meeting. Both have 'been there, done that'...and continue to do so.
That anniversary reception should be one wild affair. CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations and a whistle salute to Capts. Bill and Darlene upon your golden anniversary. I treasure your friendship and have long admired you for your kindness and generosity, which truly exemplify the goodness of river people. Cheers!!!

Captain Bill must really have something special planned. I've been trying to get him to do my hull inspection for over a year now, so he's obviously had to have been planning this big "mile marker" anniversary for atleast that long. Only kidding. This weekend marks my Wife and I's 6th anniversary on the 13th. Hope we will be blessed with the same longevity Capt. Bill and Ms. Darlene have had in their marriage. Capt. Bill once told me when I informed him I was getting an old boat, " You know there's no turning back from this", I guess marriage has a way of being the same as owning old boats. Hope you have a great anniversary Capt. Bill. Now how bout that hull inspection. :^)

Bill & Darlene, all the best for your 50th Anniversary!!! It was great we´ve been able to meet this summer and I hope that there will be many more chances to meet both of you!
