This was given to me today. and makes for interesting reading. I am not sure if this is allowed, it is public records so it should be.

Well, this looks like a mess about to happen.
One statement made by ACL that is FALSE is that they will be offering "Steamboat cruises." I don't believe they have ANY boats powered by steam; I suppose their lawyer will argue that any boat with a wheel is a steamboat??

We should sue them for false advertising.

That's just it, Ed. They have the bucks to sue. I think it's kind of funny, but many folks don't know the difference between a steamboat and a diesel boat. And no amount of explanation will convince some that a steamboat (BofL, DQ, JBS) is not a fake. I've seen it too many times, and seen it happen on every one of those boats.

I don't think it's that big a deal...The American Queen Steamboat Co. changed their name (I assume in response to the suit), and the name still says "Steamboat", which of course it is. I'm sure that if they do not settle out of court that the fact that ACL has no steamboats and AQSBCo. does will come out prominently.

The case was settled. It is no longer. This is moot.

As of July 1st, I have been working for the American Queen Steamboat Company. As far as I know, it was NOT one of the several "trademarks" that ACL tried to wrest from any attempt to establish a link to The Delta Queen Steamboat Company legacy that we are proudly continuing.

Outward appearances to the contrary, I also work on the ONLY overnight passenger steamboat in the country, and will continue to do so even when that raft they call a riverboat sets sail.

Could have been a much better relationship. But they chose to play hardball.

*RE: Ruffled feathers over names/trade marks*
Interesting reading and thanks to all who posted comments, insights on the above. Nothing really new in business with these issues usually quickly settled.

Be careful though in chiming in on a law suit on a public forum/chat room or even E=Mail. Once picked up, printed on paper, it's now a formal legal document. This even with an E=Mail signature or not as all easily tracked down. Just an idle comment, mind you.
