There were quite a few websites that had conflicting information on when the Delta Queen would be in port during our cruise. I had previously been in touch with a nice lady in Henderson, KY working at the Tourist Commision. (She must have a wonderful view of the river all day since her address is 101 N Water St)
Anyway, on their website they had two different days and dates that the DQ would be docking there so I contacted her again.
AS OF TODAY - The DQ will be there Friday, August 22nd from Noon - 5pm.
I know - some of you have this on your tickets already and some schedules have had this since last year but...
For all those who have tours planned in Louisville this is really good news.
Addition made 6pm Wed night:
I got an email from Dover that the DQ will be in town Wed 20th 8a - 1p
I called Paducah and the DQ will be in town Thu 21st 8a - 1p
I got an email from Henderson that the DQ will be in town Fri 22nd 12p - 5p
I called Grandview and they are expecting the DQ on Sat 23rd 8a - 1p
Madison's website says the DQ will be in town Mon 25th 8a - 1p
Louisville here we come...
Pat
See Pat?? Just have faith! NOW What about the weather?? Should we be packing something for occassional rain? And anything but clothes for HOT HUMID weather??
BTW, was 104 here yesterday, but it's a dry heat. . . .

David D. -- packing suitcases starting tomorrow!!!!!! (We leave SUN @ 4AM--egads!)
As if things aren't getting frantic enough, yesterday the washing machine failed--fortunately it was just dirt in the water valves, but there went 1-1/2 hours fixin' it!
David: The Louisville metro area has been enjoying a respite from the torrid heat and high humidity for the past week or so, with daytime temps pleasantly in the mid 80's and going down into the 60's at night. Unfortunately, it's getting to that time of year when we can have hot days and cool nights -- the recipe for that old demon on the river called FOG!
The extended forecast calls for thunderstorms throughout next week, but those forecasts often change daily and we don't have a drop of rain! However, today they said there would be NO chance for rain. As I type these lines it is raining so hard I can barely see the parking area from my office windows! So, it's always a good idea to go prepared!
Yvonne and I will be "on deck" at the museum to greet y'all on Sunday morning, August 24th. She is off to San Francisco this week to visit her son and will be back just in time for our special "Steamboat Sunday" visitors.
See you soon!
The DQ will be in Clarksville this Sunday on its way to Nashville. They are having one of those good-bye celebrations at 4pm if anyone is in the area.

Pat
We just got a call from Majestic Lines that the DQ is not going to Nashville. It is stopping in Clarksville and not going any further.
Shuttles will start picking up people at the airport and the Sheraton hotel at noon on Tuesday.
Boarding on the DQ will start at 1pm.
It is not quite 50 miles to Nashville to Clarksville.
We need to be on board by 5pm.
Anyone else heard from them?
Well, that didn't take long for ANOTHER change to occur.
The Majestic rep called back a little while ago and said that the DOCK would NOT be a pickup location. They are using the Sheraton Hotel and the airport as a pickup locations.
Stay tuned...
Starting in Clarksville instead of BNA? yawn, been there, done that, and the cool thing is Clarksville landing is very nice and from the schedule I had we were originally gonna skip by it. Also this allows a more leisurely trip downriver for a bit...
And for everybody on the cruise, if I remember the company bus shuttle from BNA to Clarksville is about 75 minutes...
Then there was the time we got stuck in the mud at Clarksville due to a falling river, but Capt. Mike Williams did his voodoo magic and got us loose... The boat had a list that morning, starboard showers weren't draining too well, and rolling the wheel with hard over back and forth rudder wasn't doing it... thank God for how heavy the stage is...one of those DQ memories, priceless...
I'm still at work, we arrive in Nashville on Sunday night, fortunately we have a rental car, so I guess we'll just drive back to the airport, leave the car and board the MAL shuttle. BAD shuttle!!! (couldn't resist the pun). I'll probably know more when I get home tontie.
I sure hope this doesn't mean less river time and more dock time!! It does mean one less section of the river that I can mark on my "been there" list.

The reason the Delta Queen can't make it to Nashville is because the Cheatham Lock is closing for repairs on Aug 18th. This information was on a website on Aug 8th:
(AMM) Lock closures to affect Miss. shipping
Metalbulletin.com (subscription), UK - Aug 8, 2008
Finally, the Cheatham Lock on the Cumberland River in Tennessee will close for repairs between Aug. 18 and Sept. 9, shutting off barge traffic to and from ...
I don't have a subscription to this site so I can't read the rest.
The DQ will be docking at McGregor Park; 640 N Riverside Dr; Clarksville (It looks like it is across the street from Subway, Wendy's and Sonic Burger on the river six blocks north of Main St)
Woohoo, we still get to go to Louisville!
Yeah Pat, that's the place, very parklike landing. And David, I suspect that the river time will be just the same, it will just be more leasurely...however we will NOT be going through the railroad swingbridge...You can see it, just a touch upriver from the Clarksville landing...I was a little concerned on the distance from BNA to Dover, now it will be a lot easier.
Funny, a Monkey's song is coming to mind...
And Pat, is this your second trip on any/all of the Queens? Or have you taken more...?
Bruno,
I will never forget Annie LeBeaux playing "Last Train To Clarksville" on the calliope as we passed the aforementioned city! Some of the younger inhabitants of that town probably didn't get it...but I did!
Another Clarksville calliope story...we were doing the 11 at 11 one day whilst tied in at Clarksville, TN and I was at the keyboard...about 3 laps into it the calliope stopped responding to my fingering....well, I asked why they threw the kill switch in the pilothouse and was told we had a request from Wendys. You see, the drive thru speaker is aimed almost square at the calliope whistles. Imagine if you will being the poor soul who is trying to take drive thru orders while a calliope (less than a block away mind you) is being amplified into your ears! So for the remaining 8 laps I sat at the keyboard and hummed appropriate tunes.
~Travis~
PS: See ya all in Louisville!
Karen and I only took one other trip on the DQ - New Orleans to Memphis back in April of 2000. We've got 3 lovely drawings of the boat on the walls in our living room. The news that it might not cruise after this year prompted us to book the last available cabin back in January.
The farewell celebration at Clarksville has been delayed until 8am on Monday morning.
