Miss Carol, brother John and some of his family have rooms booked on the DQ for tomorrow 8-16-2010 and Tuesday; back home Wednesday. I would like to take my litttle steamer MISS FORTUNE if I can find a place to launch it and hopefully a float to board/moor it. Can anyone help with information? I hope to see some of you there; thence to Howard for the weekend. In hopes of a steamy experience...Cap'n Walnut.

Tom, call the hotel (423-468-4500) and ask how to get in touch with Captain Harry Phillips. He has the rights to the Coolidge Landing, as well as the City Landing on the other side of the river. Seems they must have a place to launch over there.
Or try [email protected].

Great to hear that you, Carol and John will be there - Pat Carr and I will be arriving on the 17th. See you then..................

WOW......what a group will be aboard. Several BELLE of LOUISVILLE potentates...including CHIEF KENNY HOWE will be there Sunday and Monday night. Hope the bar has a good supply of KNOB CREEK because with that crew aboard the truths will flow. Heck with enough Kentucky Corn they just might fire up the old gal and have a real Chattanooga Harbor tour.

Sigh, Jim, you might ought to have been there. It was a steamy trip in more ways than one! We had three part days in steam at the Coolidge Landing where the DQ is tied, we did so courtesy of Cap't Harry Phillips. We put in at river mile 468 with Cap'n Harry at the wheel we came to Coolidge Landing and tied up with the DQ (river mile 464). MISS FORTUNE'S whistle line fatigued on the road on the way down to Chattanooga and thanks to the DQ engine room gang got that going too on Tuesday. It rained all morning til mebbe 2PM and with the rain running down my neck, I got it all back together in time for an ABC TV interview. In all we got to run 27 miles including about 3/4 mile up South Chicamauga Creek. I'll hafta get a better fix on the whistle, more fuel and recharge for this weekend. Cap'n Walnut.
