I have just uploaded a new video of the DQ departing Nashville for the last time in 2008. I just bought a new system to edit video and this is one of the results. The calliope concert if from the next to last visit in 2008. Most of the rest of the footage is the actual last day. The high pitched twitter in the sound is something that appeared after the video was uploaded to YouTube I thought some of you may be interested in seeing it. Another great video of the Queen. I loved all the different angles, especially the one looking right at the wheel from behind it. Great job!

Beautiful video, I can never see enough! at NY Maritime not too long ago we had some of the main representatives from MARAD come and talk to us about getting a new ship for the school, of course when it was all over I went over and pulled them aside and asked them what they had going on with the DQ, they looked like a deer in the headlights, and ask me what made me curious and explained to me how they had just had a meeting the week before on the matter of the vessel and some type of plans... wouldn't say much more then that tho...

Twist and Shout
Great shots of the wheel while twisting the boat around. Thrusters make it easier, but all the rudder/wheel co-ordination was right on. She sure shipped-up fast from going astern to coming ahead. Was that true time, or was there a camera delay?
Only down side was how overgrown the wheel was with moss. Wagner would never have allowed it. Guess I just old-school. But otherwise, perfect.

Right you are, Sam. I have ruined quite a few pairs of pants spraying bleach on that wheel to kill the moss.
It also irritates me every time I see that bluff stern on her after they put on the new hull. Harry Louden used to lament the fact that the DQ's stern didn't have much rake, but he'd really dislike the way she has now!

Sam, essentially the wheel shots are in real time with very few cuts. You will notice as the boat turns I have scenes from the opposite bank. Those were taken on the next to last time the boat was in Nashville. I spliced some of those bow shots to make the scenes more logical to the general viewers so that they could understand better what was actually going on overall. It is always very exciting to watch the DQ make the tight turn at Riverfront Park.
I thank everyone for the nice comments on the video.
