With all the CHAOS at the museum this week as our countdown has begun to the new Collections Management Facility dedication and Steamboat Bicentennial Celebration weekend events, I plumb forgot to post that yesterday was the birthday of steamboater extraordinaire and editor par excellence of the S&D Reflector, DAVID TSCHIGGFRIE.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY (a day late, but no less sincere!) Dave, and a whistle salute to you along with a calliope serenade!
Keep up steam!
Your friend of 40+ years,
Keith
Dave, had I known it I'd have bought you a drink the other night! Happy belated birthday. Hope it was a good one and that you had a good trip back to DBQ!
Salutations on your natal day....perhaps a calliope rendition of "Happy Birthday" is in order! Too bad we don't have one on here to perform it on for you. Hope you are having a great post natal day and that the actual day was filled with happiness and all the things necessary for a most fruitious day of relaxing frivolity!
Well, if I had known I would have baked a cake, but Travis' calliope playing is a whole lot better than my cake baking. So you may count your blessings. Anyway, happy Birthday, David!
Belated....
Even if I had known, I probably would have procrastinated and not done anything in time anyway... it's a 'retired' thing... so an ontime Belated Good Thoughts about your natal anniversary!
Belated Happy B-Day!
Hi, David:
I was totally alseep at the switch [What's new?] here fumbling and mumbling around but wanted to add my best wishes for your B-Day from 'Ragtown.' Additional applause, trumpets, drum rolls and vociferous 'Huzzas' for the fine Editorship you've assumed in producing the S&D REFLECTOR. We enjoyed your calliope style on the Lafayette Hotel piano last week.

Thank you to all my river friends for your kind birthday wishes. Keith, you need not trouble yourself about belated BD greetings, as at this age I find that I'm prone to forgetting such things myself! Enjoyed a great weekend at Marietta, and am looking forward to the after-wedding "dessert cruise" on JONATHAN PADELFORD in St. Paul after son Jonathan's marriage next month. Only wish there were steam and a calliope on board so's we could really fire up the celebration!
If there's an air calliope, you'll of course need to play "The Bells Are Ringing for Me and My Gal"
