A long and two shorts to ya, Bobby, and a steam calliope rendition of "Abba Dabba Honeymoon" to commemorate your 39th PLUS birthday! Have a good one and keep rollin' on the river!
HBD Bob. WOW! I didn't realize you were just 6 years, plus, when I met you on the DELTA QUEEN in 1978. Must be those "good genes" you mentioned.
New math
According to Keith's new math, you're only 3 years older than the NATCHEZ, which was christened 36 years ago today. And I guess you were only 3 or so when I met you on the DQ when you were watchman! Whatever the number, have a good one today Bob!
Well, happy Birthday, Bob! If I'd of known, I'd have baked a cake.
Capt, Happy Birthday, 29? you look about that age, and I look about 39 give or take, hee-hee... if you happen to pass the Niagara Prince in the next two weeks, a few of us diehard river nuts/DQ afficianos aboard would love a whistle and a wave...
We're outa NOLA, across the gulf to Mobile, up the Tenn-Tom, a night in my FAVORITE marina 'Grand Harbor', and into the Tennessee to have drinks on the DQ. Leaving NOLA this coming Sunday, will be in CHA on the afternoon of the 25th...
Are Deb and I excited? Is a New York Minute short?
WOWZERS!!! Thanks everybody for the Birthday Greetings! I had a good day on my boat but without a computer until almost 5:00 pm -- it had a BAD virus!
Judy, yeah, I was only 3 when you climbed that ladder at Muscatine at 2:00 am. I was a big boy then! ;-D And Bruno, last time you were on the NIAGRA PRINCE, I tried to wave at you at Grand Harbor about 9:00 pm, but you were nowhere in sight. I really didn't think folks would appreciate my blowing the horn at you. I will wave if we're in the vicinity, though.
Thanks again, everbody.
As the sun sets on yet another birthday, here are a few "vintage views" from another era aboard the Str. DELTA QUEEN. Thanks for the memories!
(1) Capt. Lexie Palmore giving Mate Bob and me a "preview" of her mummy costume for a Halloween party we had in the crew's dining room. October, 1978.
(2) Capt. Harry Louden, Keith and Bob on the DQ at Madison, IN - September, 1978
(3) Mate Bob on the DQ stage for a sunset departure at Cairo, October, 1978

Another era is right! I think that was Miss Ann V. Zieger's room that Lexie and I were in with the mummy costume. In the others I look like a mop -- skinny stick with a mop of hair!
Bob: Well, you've caught the Rabbit Hash Shipyard with the gates locked. But we'll close down for you in celebration of your ? anniversary of your 39 BD as soon as we get open for business next...just celebrated my 37th anniversary myself! Have a good one and plenty more. Cap'n Walnut.
*How old...?*
Happy B-day Bob! Missed you last weekend at the joint MOR/S&D spring meeting, Gen. Butler State Park, Ky. Great event but knew you were working. Jack Custer guest speaker bringing one excellent program on history of steam towboating with photos. I 'think' I know for sure how many years you've chalked up but...well...Shhhhhh on that. Remember the time you were docked in town and called me with the tooth ache? I set you up with a dentist here in Hyde Park pronto. All's well that ends well.

Never too Late!
Lex, it's NEVER too late to own one of those skirts and the attendant petticoats. Would look great with those flip flops you wear in the snow up there at Leadville!
Speaking of snow, it's in the low 70's and sunny today, but the Ohio is again on the rise and not expected to crest until Friday over a foot above flood stage. More rain and plunging temps are predicted for the weekend. This is going to play havoc with the annual "Thunder Over Louisville" fireworks extravaganza, as much of the wharf and Waterfront Park are already under water. And snow flurries have been known to mingle with the fireworks. Spring is here!
You hit the nail on the head.
Yesterday a lot of bare ground was showing but today...no. If I had worn a poodle skirt in the 1950's, I would have looked like a pencil with a funnel on it. If I wore one now, I would get committed.
We have been told, frequently, that sometimes they have snow with fireworks here on the 4th of July. Well, it beats sweat and mosquitos mingling with the fireworks.
" Still Crazy " ??
Hey Bob !
Happy Birthday !
" Still Crazy After All Thes Years " ??
Smooth Sailing !
