Well, we are back home. I don't know why y'all have a whole website devoted to this, that boat was sooo sloooow & the cabin was soo tiny.
Yawn. . .
Later,

Mercy, you sure sounded alot more enthusiastic before your MAL trip. I guess the old grey mare just ain't what she used to be. 😉

Owing to your previous boundless enthusiasm, me thinks (I HOPE!) your comments surely must be an early April Fool's joke!!!!

Don't believe him!!! David had a super time and was bouncing around on the last morning as he was on the first day!! The Dewey's were great fun to be around all week! I'm glad I was there to meet them and enjoy watching their delight in the DQ!

OK, I LIED, here's the proof.

Rats, thought I'd raise more of a stink than that!! But these pics needed a "lead in." They had to first drag me out of the room, and then Bob (cruise director) had to drag me off the bow.
Steamcerely,
David & Linda D.
PS. I think we outdid Bruno in the Gift shop bargin hunting, we had to buy two extra bags at A. Swhabb as our booty wouldn't fit into our arriving luggage even after unzipping the stretch compartments!
I'll post more later, have to get the house back in order (??? Huh, like it was in order before we left??), and we're due for cold rain today! BTW, all my notes from everyone, our French Quarter hotel confirmations, and my calliope music was left here at home by the door in a nice plain manila envelope, You can call me "one finger Dewey" for my calliope playing--but I got my certificate!
Now if anyone wouldn't mind, I could put my sleeping bag under a bed, I don't snore TOO loudly, I think the loose paddle board and the main bearing thump would sorta drown me out (actually, I think the bearing thump is gone now) I could survive on the hot dogs and the buffets, no one would notice me. . . . .401.jpg402.jpg

Glad to hear it wasn't a let down in accomodations, compared to the Delta King!

You are a rascal so you must be a steamboat person. That's the whole thing right there. Glad you and Linda had fun and we will look forward to reading other adventures of the absent minded steamboaters.

Cheers

Trust me...David VERY quickly became more "rabid" than most, almost as bad as me and Deb...he and Linda were a ball to watch, and the crew and passengers went nuts over the enthusiastic nature of those two. Forgive me David, I gotta tell 'em...

MAL in their infamous wisdom didn't offer kite flying this cruise. That didn't stop this guy though, he went out and bought his own...gotta love this guy...

I have a very funny picture in my mind of all the participants on this board showing up with their official homemade kite of the boats. God knows that you probably can't bring that through airport security either but it still would be a funny picture.

You can print out all the pages from here, tape them together and make a kite. It would be quite a laugh!

Well, someone had to put an eagle on the boat!! (my Kite was an eagle) I have to get that other chip downloaded so I can share those pics.
We shared it around some, wish more had been there though. BUT, no string in the wheel this time!!

PS Glad my ruse didn't upset too many!

I don´t remember how but one of the kites in 1995 (our first cruise) made it into my suitcase and is still somewhere in my condo :-).

How about a "Save the Kite" campaign? I´m willing to bring mine back.

I'm alittle disapointed on not having a kite day:( Is it that DQ just isn't supplying them anymore....Can we bring our own?

Sandy,

In case you´re bringing your own kite have a conference with the Discovery Guide first. Let her/him check the river charts to be sure there are no low bridges or power lines crossing the river while you are trying to fly your kite :-).
