Ann Putnam Mallinson passed on yesterday after an extended illness. Ann was a loyal and generous river fan, the daughter of Harold Putnam, a banker who occasionally financed river people. Doc Hawley and I will always be grateful for her support when we published Moonlite at 8:30, a gift that she would not allow us to repay.

Indeed, Annie was a gentle, kind soul who was gracious to all. May she rest in peace.

Illness forced Anne to forego S&D meetings many years ago, and we were the poorer for her absence. Her quiet dignity and humor graced us far too short a time. This picture was taken aboard the VALLEY GEM during an S&D meeting, year unknown. That's Anne in the middle flanked by Tom Greene and myself.1672.jpg
