We were enjoying our coffee on the river bank this morning when a down bound Ingram tow slowed way down. We thought he had yielded the right of way to an up bound who was in the Cordova curves coming up on Steamboat Slough. A short time later, a down bound Marquette tow laid up against the island and we also noticed that the Ingram was still at the south end of the island. We were back inside the house when Richard noticed another Marquette tow stop in the channel then slide over to the other Marquette boat.
It was then I decided to check the nagivation page and saw that Lock 16 at Muscatine, Iowa was closed last night and that 17 at New Boston, Illinois was closed early this morning both due to high water conditions.
We have never been up here during flood season before so today offered a unique sight for us.
Getting ready to drive along the river to see how things are stacking up.
Suzanne--what did you see, and did you get pictures?
Mary, please see the e-mail I sent to you.
