For any of you who might have had a trip to Caddo Lake to ride the Graceful Ghost on your bucket list, you need to bump us up on the list. We are retiring after this year and do not plan to sell the business for someone else to continue. The fate of our steamboat is as yet unknown but we are trying to find a home for it. We plan to move to Colorado. We are tired. This is our fifteenth season, and one can age quite a bit in 15 years. Fifteen years ago we could stand the Texas heat. Now we would just like to get away from it. Forever. It has been fun and our little endeavor has exceeded our expectations, but we are ready for a change. We hope that some of you will head in our direction and we would be glad to see you. We will operate through November.

Dagnabbit Lexie! The Ghost is the only steamboat near enough for me to get to. And me too poor to even buy the echo of the whistle.

Lex: Everybody deserves a rest from their labors and you and Jim have more than done your share of hard work to bring authentic steamboating to Texas -- not only with the GRACEFUL GHOST, but in earlier days when you started out with WILLIE and, of course, the RIVER MUSEUM that you operated at Jefferson. I hope to get down there before you blow the final landing whistle and wish you and Jim all the best in your plans to relocate far away from the torrid Texas heat! A long and two shorts to ya!

P.S. Herewith is a recently found "pictcha" I took of you and Lucy Stoll, seated on the second floor landing window seat, at the Howard Museum on October 2, 1983.1661.jpg

It is sad to lose the colorful Graceful Ghost, but cool air and relaxation are certainly your due now. I am so glad I got to ride and I cherish the memory of it.
