The good news is that Pat and her daughter Kathy flew home yesterday from Cleveland to Pat's condo on Marco Island. The bad news is Pat fell in her own place and broke her hip last night. She underwent surgery immediately and is currently in the local hospital recovering from that. Sorry but I don't have a name or address for the hospital yet. So offer up some more good thoughts for Pat!
No more news
We've heard nothing further about Pat's latest hospitalization, so we assume no news is good news....
A phone call from Barb Hameister (who had just talked with Pat's daughter) brought the good news that Pat is doing fine following her latest surgery. The Sternline Telegraph will keep us apprised, I'm sure! Keep sending up good thoughts for our dear friend!
I'm on deck at the Howard Steamboat Museum today and a bus tour is arriving. More later!

Any update on our fearless steamboater, Pat?
As of Monday afternoon, she was waiting to be transferred from one hospital to another for rehab. I hope that has already happened.
Cards do get to her at her home address, delivered by her daughter. Lots of us are resending the cards that came back from Cleveland.
Thanks, Pat! Will send a card to her home address.
More good news today
Pat is still in the rehab hospital. I talked to her today and she said she did some stairs for the first time! And we all know she will need to do stairs in November on the DQ.
She can now receive email, but may not answer until she gets home to the bigger computer. It is too hard to type on the little one. She hopes to be home by Monday, but nothing definite yet.
She's connected
Just got a phone call from Pat. She's got her little laptop going and can get emails, but if you sent any before today she can't retrieve them until she gets home. She has a meeting this afternoon regarding things she'll need to do to her condo, like grab bars, and she's anxious to get that done. Since she is a 'fall' patient, she's not allowed out of bed unless a hospital person is with her. You can imagine how that is going over! Her travel goal is to make the DQ reunion in November, and she's admitting anything before that needs to be dropped. So Delta's business may drop significantly, at least in the short term, until she gets the paddlewheel full ahead. But feel free to email her. I got a response within 5 minutes!
According to "The Sternline Telegraph", Pat went home from the hospital on Saturday and was looking forward to getting online with her "big" computer". Good news!
Pat Traynor fit to sail
I had a call from Pat on Saturday and she will be attending our "Bring Back Those Good Ol' Riverboat Days" November 10-14 on the DQ. We have been eagerly awaiting the update for her to travel and are thrilled she will be joining us, as expected. With our more than 50 passengers, she will have all the help she needs and lots of loving attention.
