Meeting Helen Prater is a treat in itself. That 94 year old is like the energizer bunny and the sweetest lady imaginable. She plays a fantastic piano too.

And for me to say that about an elderly person with all that I cope with on the home front says a lot right there. Sandy- your trip will change your thinking. I am sure of it. You said that you retired form the travel industry??? Well, I hope that after the DQ works her magic on you, you help to continue the magic but telling others in the travel industry about the wonders of steamboating- especially on the Delta Queen.

She may be old but she is a very grand lady indeed.

"Riverlorian" is a copyrighted term which the new company didn't buy, hence 'discovery guides'...

Hi, I,m new to the boards but am a steamboater since 1996. I have found that no matter which boat you are on the crew and other passengers become like family. I am planning my 10th cruise for this year and can't wait to see my old friends. There are four of us ladies who travel together and several years ago the crew dubbed us "The Happy Ladies" So we adopted the name and travel as the Happy Ladies from Texas. By the end of our cruise we have made many friends and have some that want to cruise with us again. This is the only kind of cruising where it feels like a family reunion every time you step on the boat. i would that it was where everyone who wanted to could take a trip on the queen. Just wanted to give my props to the boats.
Thanks

Hi Sally,

You all are fondly remembered. Make sure you pack enough T shirts. :O)
