Something fun to do while you're waiting for the riverboats to go back into service would be to explore the beautiful coast of Maine aboard the American Star, or a larger section of the New England coast on the American Glory. The Star is running weekly Bangor/Bangor trips called Maine Coast and Harbors, and the Glory is running Grand New England trips between Providence, Rhode Island, and Bangor, Maine. These beautiful small ships are operated by American Cruise Lines of Connecticut.
Parts of these cruises actually include some river travel, for example when you come to Bangor, it's 30 miles up the Penobscot River, which begins where Penobscot Bay leaves off.
The good news is that ALL of these cruises will include my show "Ragtime Tonight!" whenever either of the ships calls in Rockland, Maine (lobster capital of the world). So, contact Phyllis, who is an ACL specialist, and book yourself a trip - I'd love to see any and all steamboaters up here in Maine for a visit.
Hi Jazzou. We were on the American Glory with a group of steamboaters with Phyllis and and did the Rivers Of FLorida trip, it was really nice. Will be leaving for Providence, RI on the 11th of July on the American Spirit for the Islands Of New England cruise. Any chance you'll be on it? Sorry we'll miss Phyllis' trip but the #1 son is coming home for a visit. Richard & Joan
