Beloved Cabin Attendant, Vincent Lombardi, worked only the past two seasons aboard the Delta Queen, but had many fans. His infectious smile and piercing blue eyes made him unforgettable. At the young age of only 34, he died in his sleep the night before last. His sister, Harmoni, was a bartender aboard the Delta Queen, and his dad, Pony Keg, was ship's carpenter part of the 2007 season. Vince's heart was huge, and his steamboating family is mourning him, as are his family and friends in Duluth, MN. I will post any information--or anyone can--who hears details of any memorials for him. Rest In Peace, my friend.3632.jpg

Mary,

This is the most shocking news I have heard! Vince was a great friend to me both aboard the DELTA QUEEN and off the boat, I can't even start to bring words to this page.

My prayers are with his family, who I have had the great pleasure to know as well. I am just shocked, I was just talking to him a few weeks ago on Facebook...I am in disbelief! Vince always had a cheerful outlook on life and definately had a sence of fun that surrounded him all the time...anyone who knew him couldn't help but have fun around him...because his positive spirit was infectious!

Vince was our cabin "guy" on the DQ's last cruise. We really liked him, and had a great time telling jokes back and forth. Our condolences to his family.
Steamcerely,

The obituary in the Duluth, MN newspaper lists the services as 2pm Saturday, June 6, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth. Phone number is 624-5200. For those of you on Facebook, there is a group now in his memory. In one day, it already has 133 members. Vinny was greatly loved.

Many passengers on the DELTA QUEEN have been touched by Vince's love of life and how chipper he always was. He will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to his family, as we mourn him as well.

If you are on Facebook, you can join the group "In Memory of Vince Lombardi (1974-2009)" to post your thoughts and photos. Sisters Harmoni and Melody are on there and are happy to read everyone's thoughts.
I remember Vince very well from my four trips on the Delta Queen. Vince was usually the first person I saw out on the decks each morning - always with a smile and a friendly remark. He was fun-loving and warm. What a tragic loss of someone so young.
