I just found some photos of the Spirit of Jefferson that visited Tell City, Indiana this week. It sounds like they had a good turn out of 148 passengers in spite of the rainy weather. The story does not say if it was for just sight seeing or a dinner cruise. If it was a dinner cruise then it was nearly a sell out. Here is a link to the Perry County News showing the two photos and captions. Unfortunately there does not seem to any more infromation other than the photo captions. One photo is a nice shot from inside the pilot house showing the line of people boarding in the rain.
Here is the link to the story. This is my first attempt with the new format so I hope this is link usable.

Ted,
Your link works perfectly. Thank you for posting it. I was also able to add this link to my favorites. We "lurkers" have missed you!
I hope my post ends up in the right place. The title didn't transfer for me. I am still learning too.
Did I see snow on the ground where the passengers are waiting in line?
Linda
I don't think there was any snow. I am sure that I would have heard about that from my mother who still lives in Tell City. She had told me about a month ago that there was an excursion boat coming to town but she did not remember the name or when it was coming. It sounds like they had a pretty fair turn out. River excursions in Tell City are as rare as hen's teeth in this day and age.
Ted: Am I correct in that the last STEAMBOAT excursion at Tell City was back in 1982 when the Str. NATCHEZ stopped there en route home to New Orleans after participating in the Great Steamboat Race here at Louisville? I drove down to Tell City that Sunday to take pictures and remember that the line waiting to board the boat stretched up the hill and snaked into town! I'm sure that Bert Fenn probably had a lot to do with the promotional work for that cruise!
It's hard to believe that it's been a year ago this week since the NATCHEZ was here on her Hurricane Relief Tramping Cruise -- and we all enjoyed the warm weather and being on deck in short sleeves. I even got some sunburn while playing the cally-ope. That wouldn't be the case THIS week! Brrrrrrr!
Yes, Keith. I think you are right. I cannot think of any other boats stopping for curises since the Natchez in 1982. Hopefully the Spirit of Jefferson's tramping experience is lucrative and will continue. Maybe even encouraging the Belle to venture out on a few trips someday.
