Just a quick note to say hi to any former MQ boatmates whom might be reading. I want to thank the MQ for the 'nautical' inspiration she provided in my two years aboard as bartender, shore tours director, bar steward and chief steward.

As a result of that nautical inspiration, I have just received a commission as Second Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy and will be heading to the Persian Gulf in support of the international operations there.

As I head through Initial Assessment Period, Basic Officer Training Program, Naval Indoctrination, Language School, then on to MARS (Marine Surface and Sub Surface Vessel School) I will always remember with warmth, the Mississippi Queen ( and the Paddlewheel Lounge.)

God Bless!

Hey Dave, didn't know where you got off to, but can tell by your posting that you have been very busy. I remember the great jokes we had together and I have some great candid shots of you while aboard. Good luck in your adventures as an officer in the RCN. I for one would like to say that I am very proud of you.

Good luck to you- that sounds exciting.

You probably don't even remember me but I make it a point to remember as many people as I can. I am not on the boats and I have been editing and re-editing a book project but in the meantime, life happens. I have been very busy with that.

Take care and god bless to you!

David,

Good luck and best wishes! I still have some of the "literature" from your shore tours. Those sure were fun times, weren't they? Remember the dinner with Carol and the Helen Keller quarter on the Tennessee River? I know I will never forget that one!

Jim,
Really good to hear from you. Wouldn't mind grabbing a coffee and a cookie at the Antlers Bar and having a visit. I still tell a few of the jokes we shared. Love to see any candid shots you might have of me. If possible email them to [email protected]. Anyhow, take care Jim.

Hey Travis! Good to hear from you. Took a moment to remember what Shore Tours Literature you were refering to. Laughed out loud when I remembered, laughed even louder with the memories of Carol and the Helen Keller quarter. God bless Carol. Found a few pics of her I'd taken on the AQ. What ever happened to her Steamboat cafe in Hannibal?
Take care Travis, always appreciated your friendship.
