Greetigs From New Orleans ,
The Str. Natchez and the M/V Creole Queen are still off location from their regular mooring facilities although the partially sunken and leaking oil barge has been removed . Both the Str. Natchez and the M/V Creole Queen are still moored at the upper Robin St. Wharf and are both operating on a limited basis until futher notice . Its my understanding that the oil spill clean up operation has now gone into a new phase of now cleaning the pilings beneath all the wharfs and facilitis that came into contact with the spilled No. 6 oil . This wharf and piling clean up operation includes both the Toulouse St. Wharf and the Canal St. Wharf where these two vessels call home . Consequently , there is still a Coast Guard , " Saftey Zone " , where all vessels including ships must transit the area on a " No Wake " slow bell . This regulation is sometimes easier said than done due to the fact that when your dealing with upwards of 40' of draft and river current , you need the propulsion from the vessel's propeller to maintain the necessary control . In essence speed is a by-product of control and obvisily without control , you have accidents . More latter as the status of the clean up operation developes .
