The fourth annual .org JIM'S DREAM outting wil be 'AN OLD FASHION PICNIC ON THE RIVER". It will take place on the Sunday after Pat Carr's showboat talk at Howards which I believe will make it on Sunday August 25. We will board the boat at 10:30, depart from the dock at 11:00. Casually cruise up the river to the head of Twelve Mile Island, arriving about noon. (A group of local pleasure boaters have transformed the head of the island into a park with clean sandy beaches, cut grass and stairways from the beach to the top of the bank). We will land the boat on the beach and everyone can get off to explore the island (the island is loaded with wild turkeys and deer), wade or swim in the river, and just relax. The menu will once again feature Kenny Howe's famous Walmart fried chicken, Jim's delicious Kroger loaded potato salad and hopefully Joann's no bake cookies. We will depart the island about 2:30 and be back at the dock before 4.
So come "as bare as you dare"....the management of JIM'S DREAM will provide Downy Dryer Sheets to ward off chiggar bites.
Jim: Dunno what calendar you are usin' but mine sez Sunday is likely to fall on the 26 th in August of this year. Anyway, MISSIE is planning on goin' to the head of Twelve Mile Island on August 26 and we hope to see you all and share summa them chicken parts, tater salad, chiggers 'n cookies. Cap'n Walnut.
Hi Jim,
Sounds like you and your "crew" have another winner going - you can be sure I'll be there!
Pat
Great news, Jim! I'm looking forward to it.
Jim, that's great. Another boat trip to remember for a livetime. Guess what: Steamboats.org will be there, too! Carmen, Leonie and me will be on the American Queen from Pittsburgh to Louisville, arriving just in time for Pat's program and now for Jim's Dream, too.
We're looking forward to that very, very much!
Franz
Capt. Jim,
Is there room for the psudo-calliope aboard the boat? My calliope was sold...so I would have to bring the "Faux Infernal Music Machine" if it is welcome. Of course, I would like to ride, too!
~Travis~
Is there room for newbies? After much prodding from our Delta Queen friends, the Krause's are pretty sure they can make the trip to Looville. How could we possibly think of passing up Pat Carr's talk?
I suspect Franz has it summed up pretty well, an experience to remember for a lifetime...
Wah Hoo, me Too! Hope I can make it. And whats this about downey dryer sheets to ward of chiggers? Never heard of that one. Will it work in my back yard? Explain the process, please.
