and the theme will be THE PHOTOGENIC DELTA QUEEN. If there is enough interest here is what I propose to do....we will load on JIM'S DREAM about 4:30, cast off and go across and down the river and wait for the DELTA QUEEN, which is supposed to depart the Louisville landing at 5. We will follow the QUEEN up river as far as we can. She is a lot faster than the DREAM, but we can almost keep up with her. Once the QUEEN is out of site, we will return to the dock. I would estimate we should be all through by 6 or 6:30.
This will give us a good chance to take a lot of pictures and videos "up close and personal" of the QUEEN underway. At that time of the evening by being on the Indiana side of the river, the light should be perfect for some very good photos.
Let me know if there is any interest in this photo cruise.

Sign me up and I might have to get a newer camera for the occasion! Sounds like a wonderful evening to me! I might even be able to fit in making some no bake cookies for the usual picnic.

..."take a lot of pictures of the passengers on the Delta Queen underway"... ๐Ÿ˜‰

And Jo Ann, you have your throwing arm all set? I expect cookies to be passed...

Actually this sounds marvelous, and I'm thinking another picture/video album for dot.org is in the making here. I'm envious, a little bit. Never seen her underway from the riverside before.

Hey Jim,

Wish I could make it on the 24th. I've still not been on JIM'S DREAM for a ramble, but did have the pleasure of admiring her from the decks of my second home, BARBARA H on the first of the ramble series. Hope all who attend have a spit lickin' good time.

In a few years "we" are really going to have to do this ramble business up. By then hopefully we'll have a FISH, a DREAM, a floatin' walnut, a LEE, and an H, all cruising together during the rambles. Anyone else want to join the fun?

Jim,

I would love to attend and at this point think I can. I am gonna be performing on Saturday in West Virginia and rushing back to Louisville as fast as I can to attend the morning and afternoon festivities down on the landing in Louisville...hopefully I can make it up there, too!

Want the infamous fake calliope again? I'd bring the real one...but I have already sold it.

It's all set...sounds like there's enough interest. We'll do it. I am keeping the boat at a different place this year; on the river at Knights of Columbus which is right abreast of the lower end of Six Mile Island. I'll get everyone directions later on.
Keep your fingers crossed for good weather.

Jim, I'll be out there that day in my boat too, so if you get into an overflow problem, I can take on a few passengers.

Directions to JIM'S DREAM....for those going on the "Photogenic DELTA QUEEN" ramble on the river this Sunday, here's how you get to JIM'S DREAM. It is docked at the Kinghts of Columbus which is located at 4417 Upper River Road, which is about 3 miles up river from the Zorn Ave. pumping station. Go up River Rd. (away from downtown) through the light at Indian Hills Trail, through the light at Blankenbaker Ln., about a third of a mile above Blankenbaker Lane you will see the KofC clubhouse on the left (river side) of River Rd., the parking lot is on the right (land) side of River Rd. Park anywhere in the lot. Cross River Rd. at the cross walk like you are going into the clubhouse. On the left of the clubhouse entrance are a set of steps down to the river docks. Go down the steps and JIM'S DREAM is about 5 boats up from the steps...slip N3.
We will load at 4 and depart aboput 4:30, we will go down river a bit and wait for Her Majesty and follow the boat up as far as we can. Should be back at the dock by 6 0r 6:30.
Looks like space shouldn't be a problem so just show up, it should be fun.

Would love to have Capt. Walnut along but the Knight of Columbus docks are not MISSIE friendly. There'd be no way to get on and off MISSIE, they are too high. The docks are designed for high water therefore they are about 5 ft. above the water. You'd need a ladder to get from MISSIE up to the dock.
