Greetings From New Orleans !
Next month , April , the fair city of Vicksburg , Miss. will be getting a new maritime attraction ! The Corps Of Engineers , M/V Mississippi IV has been acquired by the city and is in the process of being blocked and fitted on the banks of the Yazoo River as a new maritime attraction . I was told that she will be open to the public approximately in the middle of the month and hopfully this new exhibit will only add to the many attractions of this old southern town ! Just one more reason to vacation in the South and to come to Vicksburg !
Smooth Sailing !

Heres an old picture of her in the early 80's. I actually had a chance to tour her back then in Vicksburg of all places.5145.jpg

Capt. Dugger

Capt. Dugger was on the MISSISSIPPI V, I don't know about the IV. Here is Keith's posting from a while back, announcing the IV's arrival in Vicksburg:

The MISSISSIPPI #5 came out new in 1995. I've been on board a couple of times here at Louisville when she's come up the Ohio on forays. WOW! Everything is state-of-the-art to be sure! The roof bell from the 3 steamboats and previous diesel MISSISSIPPI (#4 now high and dry at Vicksburg) is installed aboard MISSISSIPPI #5 and still rings on the river.

The recently deceased BECKY THATCHER was MISSISSIPPI #3 (1926-1961).

Herewith an image of a fine model of the MISSISSIPPI #4. This was constructed by the late Paul McKinney, of Memphis, long a photographer for the Corps of Engineers, Memphis District. The model now resides at the Tunica RiverPark Museum in Tunica, Mississippi.5152.jpg
