Historic Rabbit Hash, Kentucky is seen in a blanket of winter white. The frame building, to the left, is the seat of power and authority in "the community closest to the "Center of the Universe" - the Rabbit Hash General Store.

The RH Shipyard is off to the right, and 'about a mile from Crazy Clifford's and not too far from Shantyboat Mike's'.6415.jpg

There is a bit of silence in RH due to observing the anniversary of the 1937 Flood. Some debate on-going about just how long ago that was. Without Clifford to moderate, there is no ariviing at a single answer. Some opine that it was near a hunnerd years if not a little more. Seems nobody there can remember. Winner gets to count the votes in the next election but NOT count the money! Cochran gets to do that! I'll let you all know if we find the answer! Cap'n Walnut.

Great Picture , Captain Don !

Captain Don !
Greetings From New Orleans !
Great picture ! It is certainly " Greetings Card " worthy ! Last year it snowed in the New Orleans area as I was boarding a ship in the White Castle anchorage and we had to wait over an hour to get underway because the snow had the the radars blacked out ! Go figure , snow in New Orleans , that just doesn't sound right !
Smooth Sailing !

Terrible News. RH General Store Burns.

Saturday, 13 February 2016
Rabbit Hash, Kentucky

The Rabbit Hash General Store was a total loss after fire of unknown origin swept through the historic frame building that has been alongside the Ohio River since 1831. No injuries were reported... except for many broken hearts just hours before Valentine's Day. The DELTA QUEEN and the BELLE of CINCINNATI were but two riverboats that landed at Rabbit Hash so that passengers could visit the rustic structure that surely saw many steamboats come and go over a course of some 185 years on the banks of the Ohio River.

As the fires are still smoldering at this writing, little is know about how the fire started or of the future of the General Store and whether it will be rebuilt, or not.
