So sorry that I was unable to attend the memorial service today for Virginia Bennett aboard the BELLE of CINCINNATI. Like many others, I was there in spirit and I'm sure it was beautifully fitting and an appropriate sendoff for a grand lady of the river.

Ginny, it was a joy to know you for four decades and I look forward to seeing you later on the shore of a shining river. Thanks for everything!

Until we meet again, here's one final whistle salute, just for you. Farewell good friend!9105.jpg9106.jpg

Farewell Virginia...

The wreath that surrounded the ashes of Virginia Bennett, everyone's' "River Mom", was placed onto the surface of the Ohio River at her USCG navigation light, the VIRGINIA BENNETT LIGHT 471.7, left descending bank. Many of Ms. Bennett's friends and relatives were aboard the BELLE OF CINCINNATI, today, to see her final wishes carried out as her ashes were committed into a muddy, swift Ohio River.9107.jpg
