Here are some pictures taken today from the Centennial Bridge as the AQ came out of Lock 15 downriver.
1) leaving the main chamber. There is an auxilary chamber 360 x 110 also, but it has been inoperable for several years and no money for repairs. The swing span is the Government Bridge, built in 1896, slightly downriver from the site of the first rr bridge across the UMR(trains on top, vehicles on bottom). The tower is the Clock Tower on Arsenal Island, the headquarters of the RI District Corps of Engineers.
2) stacks and pilothouse down
3) Capt. John Dugger at the port side controls. In the background is the Casino RI complex: the CRI boat, the former MATEUR, the OCKERSON, and the TG GEROW.

AQ passing Sunset Park
7) The white pleasure craft was powerless and drifting in the channel.
8) The stacks and pilothouse are still down because the I 280 is still ahead. In this 5 mile stretch, there are 4 bridges: 2 rr swing spans(Government and Crescent) and 2 highway (Centennial and I 280 )
9) Onward to Burlington...
