Here are some pictures taken from the Toulouse St. Wharf and then from the NATCHEZ roof as we passed the AQ at Poydras St. this afternoon. She is scheduled to leave on her shakedown cruise at 7:30 tonight, stop at Oak Alley tomorrow and return to NOLA Thursday morning.

Underway!
The AQ left Poydras St. and headed downriver a bit about 7:15 tonight. She is currently(10PM) going past the airport (yes, the river is quite close to MSY) and is making 5.2 knots according to the AIS. It was good to hear 'American Queen' on the radio in the NATCHEZ pilothouse tonight.

American Queen Compared to the Mississippi Queen
Great photos Judy! While looking at them this morning I had a flash back to 1976 when I and about 175 other crew members met up with the Mississippi Queen in Jeffboat. I was not expecting to be working on a modern looking steamboat as she was designed to be back in her early days. I was expecting to find a more traditional style to her architecture and appointments like the American Queen has. The American Queen is a beautiful boat and I wish I could do it all over again today on the American Queen. Unfortunately at my age I don’t think I have the stamina to do the job that will be required of the hard working crew of the American Queen.
