Another Steamboater Birthday

Let's have another long and two shorts of the whistle today to mark the birthday of Louisville steamboater Phillip Johnson. From the time I first met Phil, about five years ago, I knew he had that look in his eye and was "hooked on steamboats"! It is gratifying to an "oldtimer" like yours truly to see a "youngster" (well, he's YOUNG to me!) so enthusiastic, enthralled and actively involved with steamboats and river history.

Thanks Phillip, for all you to do on the DQ and BELLE -- and for your able and much appreciated assistance at the Howard Steamboat Museum!

Happy Birthday and Keep Rolling on the River!

Happy Birthday, Phillip! I hope that you have many more. Also I hope there are more steamboat trips and ocean crossings in you and your family's future.

Thanks so much gang. I had an awesome steamboatin birthday, spent most of the day on the Rafter CLYDE with some fine steamboatmen, we even took a short trip up the Ohio out of Aurora, IN. After that I came home to a wonderful home-cooked birthday dinner, it just couldn't have gotten any better.8712.jpg8713.jpg8714.jpg
