Just home from the festive party aboard the BELLE to honor Capt. Alan L. Bates. Quite a BIG crowd turned out, many friends coming from long distances. Miss Rita looks wonderful and greatly enjoyed greeting and visiting with the multitude of guests. There was lots of great storytelling, memorabilia, music, dancing and food! Vicky Nugent (Alan & Rita's granddaughter) did a terrific job in putting in all together and, as her granddaddy would say, "she done good"!
Alan requested a big party and he got it! It was truly a memorable evening on the river.

Keith, I second what you said. Everyone seemed to really enjoy visiting and sharing. It was so good to see so many who treasured Capt. Bates as a friend.

Bates Bash
I really want to thank each and every one of you who shared in our big day. Granddaddy said he wanted a "To Do," and he got it. I know he was smiling all day and I have each of you to thank for it. Grandmother was truly touched to see each of you as well. I also want to thank the crew of the BELLE for allowing us to use her as the venue. Everything was perfect.
