Thanks to Bill Steinike on the beautiful UMR for the heads up on this article:
The American Queen Paddle-Wheeler Cruises on the Mississippi - NYTimes.com

The author's humor is obvious when talking about the great Yazoo wreck in Vicksburg. I think he presents a very true picture of life on the boat without disparaging it. It sounds like he really enjoyed it, including the 'boaty' aspects.

Great article, very tongue-in-cheek at times. In fact, I'd ALMOST suspect the GASC publicity department of having a hand in it!
It's so sad to me to read about all the fun folks are having onboard, because current economic conditions don't allow us to be there!! AAAUGH!!! (Note to self: next life, pick a more financially rewarding career--Curating doesn't cut it!)

Far better than the computer screen version is the real ink on paper version! Cover of the Travel section full width top of page, even extending slightly below the fold color photo to lead one to text, then to the two page center spread of section continuation with 8 more color photos, top to bottom side to side! Great story, fine photos and the million dollar, no holds barred best placement anyone could want for a newspaper story.

Walk, run whatever you have to do to buy a copy of the Print edition, Sunday, 3 June 2012 New York Times.......oh yes bring the piggy bank along....$6.00 price tag......well worth every cent for this story.
